Policy Maximum is the maximum limit that the insurance company will be liable to pay for covered services. Depending on the type of policy you choose, your Policy Maximum can work differently. Every claim made on a particular policy, deducts from the policy maximum and when that maximum is depleted, the insurance underwriter stops paying.
For example, you visit the US for two months to visit family. Upon your arrival, you fall, break your leg, and receive a medical bill for $5,000 USD. If your policy maximum is $50,000, this leaves you with $45,000 USD remaining, should any further medical expenses arise.
